The short answer: a brochure website from us starts at £895, and an online shop starts at £5,000. After a first meeting you get a fixed quote, so the price you agree is the price you pay.

What decides the price of a website

Two websites that look similar can need very different amounts of work. These are the things that move the price most:

  • Brochure site or shop. A brochure site tells people what you do and how to contact you. A shop also has to list products, take payments and handle orders, which is why it starts higher.
  • How many pages you need. A handful of clear pages costs less to design, build and test than dozens.
  • Words and pictures. If you already have good copy and photographs, the job is quicker. If we need to shape the words or you need new photography, that is extra work, and we can do photography and film in house.
  • Your brand. A site is easier to build well when your logo, colours and type are already settled. If they are not, we can create a brand identity first so the website and everything else look like one business.

Brochure website: from £895

For most small businesses in Cumbria, a brochure site is the right starting point: a few pages that show what you do, where you work and how to get in touch. Every site we build is hand-coded and mobile-first, so it works properly on a phone, loads quickly and is easy to update when your prices or photos change.

Online shop: from £5,000

If you want to sell products online, the price starts from £5,000. The extra cost is the shop itself: product pages, ordering and payment, all tested before launch. As an example, one shop we built came with six service pages, 27 product pages, a 12-article journal and a contact page, all on one look.

What a fixed quote means

We do not give open-ended estimates. We start with a meeting to learn how your business works and what you want the site to achieve. A fixed quote follows, and the price you agree is the price you pay.

What it costs after launch

A website is not a one-off purchase. It needs hosting, a secure connection and someone to call when something goes wrong. Every site we build can sit on one of three care plans:

PlanPer yearWhat is included
Essential£750Managed hosting, SSL certificate, business mailboxes and direct support from us.
Growth£1,350Everything in Essential, plus a quarterly search and site health check, a plain-English report each quarter and up to 2 hours of small edits each quarter.
Signature£1,750Everything in Growth, plus one Aerial Essentials half-day shoot every year and fresh imagery for your site and profiles.

You do not have to use our hosting. We can take the site live and look after it, or hand it over and leave you to it. See hosting and care plans for the detail.

How long it takes

A typical website takes six to ten weeks, and most of that is waiting for words and pictures. Send them early and it moves faster. You will see a homepage mock-up within about fourteen days. If it is not right, you do not move forward and you do not pay.

Questions to ask any web designer

Whoever you choose, it helps to ask before you sign:

  • Is the price fixed, and what exactly does it include?
  • Who pays for hosting, the domain and the SSL certificate, and what do they cost each year?
  • Will the site work well on a phone, and how fast does it load?
  • Can I update it myself, and who do I call if something breaks?
  • Will I see the design before I commit?
